Privacy Policy
AmnesAI is a notebook for writing about one painful memory over four days. What you write is private, and the app is built so that it stays that way. This policy explains what stays on your phone, what briefly leaves it, and why.
The short version
- Your notebook is stored only on your phone, encrypted. We have no copy of it.
- There is no account: no email, no name, no login.
- When the app writes a reply to you, the page you just wrote is sent to an AI service to write it, and is not kept by us.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or build profiles.
Who we are
AmnesAI is made by ASE CQRS YAZILIM VE TEKNOLOJI ANONIM SIRKETI, Ankara Teknoloji Geliştirme Bölgesi, Üniversiteler Mahallesi, Şehit Mustafa Tayyarcan Caddesi No:5, CYBERPARK Tepe Binası, Zemin Kat No: Z46, 06800 Bilkent, Çankaya / Ankara, Türkiye (“we”). For anything about your privacy, write to privacy@amnesai.app.
What stays on your phone
Everything you write in AmnesAI — your pages, letters, check-ins, the name you give the memory, and the numbers you choose on the scales — is stored in an encrypted database on your phone. The key that unlocks it is held by your phone's secure key storage (the Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain) and never leaves the device. There is no cloud sync: we do not have a copy, and we cannot restore it if your phone is lost.
Your phone's own backup may include the encrypted database file, but not its key, so a restored copy on another phone cannot be read.
What leaves your phone, and why
The AI replies
At a few moments in the program the app writes something back to you. For each one, only what that reply needs is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to OpenAI to write the reply and returns the answer to your phone:
- Day 1 reflection: the page you just wrote, the paper you chose for it (such as “Storm”), and the number you gave on the hurt scale before writing.
- Day 2 questions: your Day 1 page.
- Day 3 rewrites: your Day 1 and Day 3 pages, with six word counts taken from them on your phone (such as how often each page uses “I”).
- Letters: the letter you are writing, for a suggested last line, and the finished letter, for a closing note.
Your pages, letters and that score can be health-related information. They are used only to write the reply.
- Our server runs on Cloudflare. It does not store or log what you wrote; it handles the request and forgets it.
- Our requests ask OpenAI not to store them (its API's “store” option is off). OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models by default. OpenAI may keep API requests for up to 30 days to detect and prevent abuse, and then deletes them.
- Nothing else from your notebook is ever sent: not other pages, not other memories.
If you are offline, nothing is sent: the app uses fixed, pre-written words instead and keeps working as a notebook.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to confirm what has been bought. RevenueCat receives a random identifier its software creates on your phone, with your purchase history — not your name or email. Our server asks RevenueCat whether that identifier has a purchase before writing an AI reply, and counts replies per day under a scrambled (hashed) form of it, which is deleted within a day.
Anonymous usage counts
We count a short, fixed list of events — for example that a day's session was started or finished, or that a letter was sealed — so we can see whether the program works. They are sent to PostHog on servers in the EU, under a random identifier that is new every time the app opens, with no location and no profile. They never contain your words, your memory's name, or your scores.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a report is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. Reports are cleaned on your phone before they are sent: no text you wrote, no IP address, no device name — only technical details such as where in the code it failed and your phone's operating system version.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your phone, not sent from a server, and never include your memory's name or anything you wrote.
Safety
If something you write suggests you may be in danger, the app shows support resources. This decision is made on your phone and in the AI reply; we are not told what you wrote. We count only that a support screen was shown, not why.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not ask for your name, email, contacts, or location.
Deleting your data
In the app, Settings → Delete everything erases the notebook and its key from your phone at once. Uninstalling the app does the same. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side; your purchase records stay with Google or Apple and RevenueCat, as stores and tax law require. You can still write to us with any question or request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in the EU or KVKK in Türkiye — you have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data about you, and to complain to a data protection authority. Since we keep no data that identifies you, we usually cannot link any record to you, but we will answer every request sent to the address above.
Age
AmnesAI is for adults aged 18 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
